How to check App Store keyword rankings by country

Track the same search in different storefronts and compare observations without confusing estimates with official search volume.

Why country matters

App Store search results differ by storefront. Your app may appear for a term in one country and not appear in the checked results in another. Treat each keyword-and-country pair as its own observation.

For example, compare the same phrase in the United States and United Kingdom before and after a listing update. This is an illustrative workflow, not a claim about measured rankings.

Check rankings in ASO Engine

  1. Open Keywords and select your tracked app. Use Add App if you haven’t added it yet.
  2. Choose Add keywords, enter a relevant phrase, select the first storefront, and add it.
  3. Add that phrase again for each other country you want to compare. Each country-specific keyword counts as a separate row.
  4. Wait for research to complete. Compare the Ranking column for each country, and open View apps to inspect the surrounding results.
  5. Revisit the same phrase and country later and open its ranking history to compare available observations.

Public keyword research does not require an App Store Connect API key. ASO Engine’s current release supports up to 100 tracked keyword rows per app.

Read the results carefully

Pending means the research hasn’t completed. Not ranked means the app wasn’t found in the checked result set; it doesn’t mean the app is unavailable. Popularity and difficulty are estimates, not official Apple search-volume figures.

Keep a baseline before changing metadata. Compare several observations for the same phrase and country, then check your own App Store Connect impressions and downloads. A ranking change alone doesn’t prove that your edit caused a change in downloads.

Keep a useful record

Note the keyword, storefront, date, observed position, and listing version. Record major changes such as a release or a competitor entering the results. Local ranking history is retained for up to 30 days; availability depends on successful observations while using the app.
